Heidi Abernethy

Hi, I’m Heidi. I started working for Hampshire SENDIASS at the beginning of April 2025. I am a SENDIASS Support Worker based in Hampshire but also cover the Isle of Wight and Richmond and Kingston.

I have extensive experience working within the Education sector within schools and early years settings and also have experience of regulation during my role as an Early Years Ofsted inspector. I have a BA Hons with English and Education and an International Montessori Diploma. I previously worked within the charity sector for Barnardo’s as a Parent Support Worker supporting neurodiverse families, children and young people.

I am a mother of three children and understand first-hand the complex challenges that can arise, and I am dedicated to helping you with your family journey by providing clear and factual support, information and advice.

During my variety of roles, I have loved supporting children and young people who have SEN to ensure they receive the correct information and advice. I am passionate about enabling parents and young people to advocate and make informed decisions to achieve the best possible outcomes. I look forward to working with you!
