Support Worker & Triage Assistant
Adele Dodd
Hi I’m Adele and I’m a support worker at Hampshire SENDIASS.
-
I have a BA with honours in English Literary Studies. I started my work life dealing with complaints for the NHS and medical negligence claims.
-
I trained in psychodynamic counselling after university. In 2006 I left the NHS to train as a teacher of secondary school English at Chichester University.
-
In 2009 I had my son who was born with a disability. I left teaching in 2011 to concentrate on his needs although I did private tutoring and was a sessional lecturer part time teaching adults. In 2014 I started working for Andover Mind, a local charity supporting people with mental health difficulties.
-
Due to my own experiences as a parent of a child with additional needs, I was drawn to supporting other parents of children with SEND and in 2016 I started working for Parent Voice which then merged with Support4SEND to become Hampshire SENDIASS in January 2019.
